Campground Food Village Submissions

Thank you for your interest in participating in the Winnipeg Folk Festival. The Festival has an annual attendance of over 80,000, and takes place in Birds Hill Provincial Park July 4-8, 2012.

Applications for the 2012 festival are now closed.

Campground Food Area

Our festival campground is home to over 6000 campers from Wednesday July 4th at 8am to Monday July 9th at 12 noon. Hours of operation are negotiable and extended or 24hour operations are encouraged. There is limited access to electricity and water systems must be self-contained.

Booths: All campground vendors will be located in one central location near Trailhead 2 in the festival campground. Vendors will be given access to a water tap, grey water tank, and a maximum of 30 amps of electricity. Equipment for food preparation, materials for display, and weatherproofing are your responsibility. Keep in mind that the festival is an outdoor event.

Fee: Varies depending on size and menu. Deposit of $500.00 is required with application.

*All concession fees include a limited number of festival and parking passes for employees.

Plumbing: Potable water – a 1/2” female potable water tap is provided at the back of the food area. Vendors must SHARE this water tap. You are responsible for bringing your own food grade hose (1/2” male potable) to connect to the water tap to fill up your water tank. You are also responsible for your own sinks. A grey water tank is provided behind the food area and will be emptied daily. Please collect your grey water in smaller amounts at your booth and then transfer it into the grey water tank.

Electrical: Electricity is very limited. We encourage the use of propane equipment. Only approved equipment will be permitted.

• We reserve the right to shut down equipment when necessary.

• You are required to use outdoor grade grounded cables at least 14 gauge.

• Equipment must be in good working condition.

• Be aware that you may be required to alternate usage of equipment.

Propane: Vendors using propane will be required to use 450 lb. tanks (100 lb. tanks are deemed a fire risk by the Workplace Health and Safety Inspector). In consultation with the propane installer, vendors must ensure propane vessels are of appropriate size, configuration and stability, and are located a safe and reasonable distance from any ignition source.

LOFT: Local, Organic, Fair Trade

We encourage vendors to include menu items that feature locally produced, organic or fair trade ingredients.
