Mixing up Cajun, western swing, blues and jazz, these five musicians out of Baton Rouge, Louisiana will keep the audience jumping and jiving at the 2008 Winnipeg Folk Festival. They may draw from a variety of genres, but “it’s all dance music” according to the band. The fiddle player, Linzay Young, says, “Three hour dances are not uncommon where we come from, and we’re there to please the dancers, so it’s less like a performance and more like a party … We could probably pull out a hundred or so songs on a given night if we had to.”
We won’t make them work quite so hard. Or will we? Catch the Red Stick Ramblers at the Fest this summer and find out!
