Festival prepares to say farewell to Executive Director

The Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra has just announced that it is hiring Trudy Schroeder as its new Executive Director. Terry Sargeant, President of the Winnipeg Folk Festival Board of Directors, gives the following statement on behalf of the board:

Last evening, the board of the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra approved the hiring of Trudy as its next Executive Director. And, Trudy has accepted.

Trudy has assured me that she has not been the least bit unhappy with her job with the Festival.

Buck 65 April 29, 8 pm (doors 7 pm) has been moved to the West End Cultural Centre. This show was previously scheduled for The Garrick Centre and has been moved. All tickets will be honoured. Tickets at Ticketmaster or at the Festival Music Store. Call 231-1377 for more information.

Special Projects/Anniversary Activities Coordinator

The Special Projects/Anniversary Activities Coordinator will assist with on-site and pre-festival events that celebrate the Winnipeg Folk Festival’s 35th anniversary. Reporting to the Manager of Partnership Development and the Communications Manager, this is a full time term position beginning May 5, 2008.

Job Summary:

Urban Outreach Program Assistant will assist in the delivery of outreach programs in the City of Winnipeg and assist in the development of partnerships in our community. These programs include a Folk Music Retreat, a Young Performers and Young Artists program and activities in the Folk Exchange (located in the Arts Exchange Building located at 211 Bannatyne Avenue.
