JOB OPPORTUNITY: PERFORMER SERVICES AND COMMUNICATIONS ASSISTANT

Job Summary
Reporting to the Artistic Associate and Marketing & Publicity Manager, the Performer Services and Communications Assistant will provide administrative support to the artistic and communications departments of the Winnipeg Folk Festival. This will include assistance with performer related publicity/media relations all performer services and the Young Performers Program.

Term: May 4 – August 10, 2009

Responsibilities

• Organization of performers’ transportation and hotel arrangements
• Assistance with performer payroll and on-site performer service support during the festival
• Young Performers Program application and database management, assistance with coordinating program logistics (arrange food and beverage, supplies and equipment), mail outs etc.
• Preparation of information materials (lists, performer packs, guides, brochures, and notices)
• Organize performer promotional materials in preparation for program book and other communications
• Noon hour Concert coordination
• Assist with production and distribution of all festival communications
• Assist with media launch and interview coordination
• Write report and make suggestions for improvements
• Administrative support as needed

• Ability to juggle multiple tasks
• Creative and resourceful problem solver

Experience Required

• Experience in administration, organization required
• Experience working in the non-profit arts sector desirable

Education and Skills

• Post-secondary education preferred
• Project management training and skills are desirable
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Filemaker

Working Conditions

• Winnipeg Folk Festival Office and WFF Festival Site
• MAC/Apple computer environment

Work Schedule

The hours of work are generally 9am to 5pm, Monday to Friday, a 35-hour week with a one-hour unpaid lunch. From June to the Festival date, there is significant evening and weekend work meeting with volunteer crews, site staff and technical staff.

Salary: $12/hour

Vehicle Requirement

It is desirable to have access to a personal automobile, and have a valid Class 5 driver’s license.
