Experience the Winnipeg Folk Festival in Technicolor! Take in the sights, sounds, and tastes of the festival with a seasoned folkie as your guide. Not-for-profit community service groups are invited to apply to be Winnipeg Folk Festival Guests for a Day.

Depending on your needs, program benefits can include:

  • complimentary single day tickets to the Winnipeg Folk Festival
  • a ‘Beginner’s Guide to the WFF’ orientation prior to the festival
  • a guided tour at the festival
  • meals while at the festival (lunch and dinner)
  • transportation to & from the festival

Interested organizations are encouraged to submit an application to the Winnipeg Folk Festival by April 30, 2010.

Program Details:

Tickets

  • Most complimentary tickets are for Friday; in special circumstances Sunday tickets are available
  • The WFF will give preference to requests that support the actual programming of an organization (as opposed to volunteer recognition incentives, for example).
  • The WFF has a limited number of complimentary tickets available, and will endeavor to support a variety of community groups each year.
  • For groups receiving meals and/or transportation, your request must include all people in your group who will be eating meals and/or taking up a seat on the bus, including young children; however:
  • If you do not require meals or transportation, children under 5 do not need a ticket for the festival

Pre-Festival Orientation

  • All groups must schedule a pre-festival orientation during the month of June in order to receive their tickets
  • The session will cover information about the festival in general, specific details on the benefits provided, what to bring for the day, etc.
  • This can be with your entire group, if appropriate, or with key staff/supervisors only
  • If the orientation is given to the entire group, the presentation will include a short performance by a local musician
  • Your organization chooses the ideal location and date for this presentation
  • Total presentation should not exceed one hour

Meals

  • Meal benefits include a bag lunch, and a hot dinner prepared by our on site kitchen, La Cuisine
  • A reusable mug is also provided to access the water taps on site (other drinks are available for purchase in the Food Village)
  • Any other snacks or drinks are the responsibility of your organization

Transportation

  • Buses will be leaving Winnipeg at 10am, and returning from Birds Hill Park in two shifts: right after dinner, and midway through the evening programming (your group must pre-select a return departure time, and travel as a group)
  • Wheelchair accessible transportation is available upon request

On-Site Guided Tour

  • Tours will take place as soon as the group arrives on site
  • Volunteer guides are long-time festival attendees who can show you the ropes
  • The majority of the day is yours to discover on your own!
