Play Along in the Folk School Tent
Want to learn a new instrument, improve your skills, or just talk about your favourite music? Come to the Folk School tent where you can learn, up close and personal, from acclaimed musicians who are performing at the festival. Who knows, maybe some of that knowledge will rub off on you! Bring your own instrument so you can play along.
In 2009, Todd Crowley’s Musical Petting Zoo will be in the Folk School each day. His fully interactive and hands-on exhibit of instruments familiar and obscure is open to all — young and old, novice and professional. All you need is your curiosity.
The Winnipeg Folk Festival takes the Folk School indoors and into the city each winter with a series of music workshops in the Folk Exchange.
The Folk School program was launched in 2005 thanks to a generous donation from Loreena McKennitt. Show your appreciation at her Main Stage performance Sunday night.
