We host a variety of Folk School classes for musical explorers of all abilities and styles that are facilitated by professional musicians. All Folk School classes take place in The Folk Exchange, located behind the Winnipeg Folk Festival Music Store at 211 Bannatyne Avenue.

Manitoba-born singer/songwriter Kate Ferris lead this popular class. With an emphasis on learning new chords and more sophisticated strumming styles, this class will also cover advanced arrangements of songs and a great knowledge of the `ukulele in general. You will also learn how to transpose songs into keys more suited to your individual voice, and how to play simple melody lines. Suitable for folks of all ages who know basic cords and are looking to learn more!

Mandolin - SOLD OUT

Six Saturdays starting March 16, 2013 and finishing on April 20, 2013
11:00 AM to noon
Early bird price: $120 before December 31; regular price is $150 (plus GST)
The direction of the mandolin course will be largely determined by the ability and preferences of those in the class. We will cover the mechanics of the instrument and the mechanics of how to play it. As well, we’ll cover different styles and how to play chords, melodies and solo. We’ll follow the tastes of the class and make sure that everyone is challenged and satisfied.

Do you have an idea for a song but don’t know how to get started? Have you already started one, but don’t know where to go? Or are you nearly finished and just need some fine-tuning? Bring your songs and ideas in whatever state, and Keri will help you bring your song to fruition.
