Hands on workshops in a casual, friendly, setting! No experience required.

We host a variety of Folk School workshops for musical explorers of all abilities and styles. From harmonica playing, to songwriting and storytelling, to running sound boards, you can learn it here. Each year brings a new series of workshops designed by fabulous facilitators and presented for anyone and everyone.

Ukulele 101 – Which End Is The Handle? with Kate “Keke” Ferris
For ages 15 and up
Six Saturdays from February 4 to March 10, 1:30 to 3:30 PM

This workshop is intended for those who have never played a ukulele before and are interested in learning how to play the ukulele for sing-alongs with friends or just for fun. More.

Blues Harmonica with Gerald Laroche

Whether you’re just interested in learning the basics or aspire to play at the highest level, here’s where you start: with basic blues chords, licks and solos. More.

The Art of Songwriting with Greg MacPherson

For ages 15 and up
Saturday, April 14, 1:00 to 4:00 PM
$25 or $20 for students
Greg will talk about the creative process of songwriting and offer instruction suited both to those approaching songwriting for the first time and to seasoned musicians honing their craft. More.

Blues Ukulele with Manitoba Hal
Participants must be familiar with at least the C, F and G chords.
Saturday, April 28, 1:00 to 4:00 PM

This workshop covers topics such as the twelve bar blues and sixteen bar blues, shuffle strumming, solo playing and performance skills. Participants will be led through a basic blues song from simply playing the song to tricking it out with licks and other tricks of the blues. Arranged for C6 tuned ukulele (G, C, E, A). More.
