2018 Daytime Schedules Announced

Who’s ready for workshops?! Our daytime schedules are LIVE including daytime concerts and of course, workshops. Below is just a little taste of all the incredible workshops you’ll come across at the 2018 Winnipeg Folk Fest!

Jukebox ’74
In celebration of 45 years of the Winnipeg Folk Festival, the Jukebox ’74 workshop will feature songs from 1974 covered by Manitoban indie-folk artist Micah Erenberg, Irishman Mick Flannery, Nova Scotian singer/songwriter Mo Kenney, high energy folk duo Harrow Fair and must-see “Celtgrass” quartet We Banjo 3. Catch this fun throwback workshop including songs by Neil Young, Joni Mitchell, Tom Waits and more at 11:30 AM on Friday, July 6 at Spruce Hollow Stage.


Yours To Discover
Our friends from Ontario have crossed the border into Manitoba to share their music with all of us! TheYours To Discover workshop brings together indie-folk group The Strumbellas, folk and roots duo Harrow Fair and the introspective lyrics of Donovan Woods on Friday at 4:15 PM on Big Bluestem Stage.


Free Fallin’
Bringing music from all over the world to a Folk Fest stage is the Free Fallin’ workshop with Tuvan throat singers Huun-Huur-Tu, sitar powerhouse Ashwin Batish, multi-instrumentalist sisters of Rising Appalachia and traditional Québécois trio Genticorum. Catch this vibrant display of world music at Snowberry Stage on Saturday, July 7 at 3:30 PM.


Old Songs, New Songs
Old Songs, New Songs showcases the evolution of indie-folk musicians with performances of their first songs and latest releases. This workshop will bring together the ever-popular Bahamas, instrumental talents of Mappe Of, the soulful voice of Gabrielle Shonk, summer sounds of Whitney and guitar finger-picking Quebecer Matt Holubowski. Catch this workshop at Green Ash Stage on Saturday, July 7 at 4:30 PM.


I’ll Fly Away
The Sunday morning gospel workshop tradition returns including self-taught piano man Michael Trotter Jr. and his soulful partner Tanya Blount of The War and Treaty, the traditional folk stylings of Ken Whiteley and The Beulah Band and Amythyst Kiah whowill bring us back with old-time Americana and bluegrass. I’ll Fly Away workshop will take place Sunday on Big Bluestem Stage at 11:00 AM.
