Galaxie Young Performers Program
Dreaming of a Future in Music?
The Galaxie Young Performers Program is an unforgettable musical experience open to talented young folks, ages 14 to 24. Each year, approximately 30 to 40 performers are selected by a jury of industry professionals to participate in the program. These young performers will have the opportunity work on their music one-on-one with 2012 festival performers! They will get together at the serene First Unitarian Universalist Church to work on their music with these world-class musicians, then get to experience what it feels like to perform in front of the Winnipeg Folk Festival audience.

Who Can Apply?
Musicians aged 14 to 24; singer-songwriters, instrumentalists, vocalists or bands. If you are a returning participant, you are more than welcome to apply again.
When Is It?
Thursday, July 5 and Friday, July 6, 2012
What Do You Get?
- A five-day ticket to the 2012 Winnipeg Folk Festival, July 4 to 8;
- Thursday: a full day of workshops with world-class mentors, lunch and refreshments all day;
- Friday: a festival performance spot on Shady Grove stage with backstage access and meals for the day;
- Access to year-round professional development and performance opportunities.
What Does It Cost?
The two-day program costs $175 and includes a five-day ticket to the festival and backstage access (includes meals) for Friday. For an additional $75, you will get backstage access for the entire five days of the festival. Bursaries are available to Canadian residents. Complete the bursary section of the application form to qualify.
How To Apply?
Step 1: apply online by clicking here. You will need to provide us with a little information about your act, including and a 150-word bio describing your musical style, influences and inspirations.
Step 2: send us a few things in the mail.
- A print-out of the online application confirmation;
- a three-song recording (CD preferred) with at least one original song (does not have to be professionally recorded);
- payment. Visa, MasterCard or a post-dated cheque (May 1, 2012) are all accepted. The fee won’t be processed until you’re accepted into the program;
- and if you are under the age of 18, a letter of consent, which is available for download off the online application.
