DREAMING OF A FUTURE IN MUSIC?
JOIN THE GALAXIE YOUNG PERFORMERS PROGRAM  

Open to emerging musicians aged 14 to 24, the Galaxie Young Performers Program offers a day of workshops and mentoring with professional musicians performing at the festival and a chance to perform on stage at the 2012 Winnipeg Folk Festival! Each year approximately 40 to 50 performers are selected to participate by a jury of industry professionals.

Applications and more information on the Galaxie Young Performers Program will be available online in February, 2012.

 

 

WHO CAN APPLY?
Musicians aged 14 to 24; singer/songwriters, instrumentalists, vocalists or bands. Returning participants are welcome.

WHEN IS IT?
Thursday, July 5 and Friday, July 6, 2012

WHAT DO YOU GET?
Each participant receives:

  • A five-day ticket to the 2012 Winnipeg Folk Festival, July 4 to 8;
  • Thursday: A full day of classes and workshops, lunch and refreshments;
  • Friday: A festival performance spot with backstage access and meals for the day;
  • Access to year-round professional development and performance opportunities.

WHAT DOES IT COST?
2012 fees will be posted here in February, 2012.

HOW TO APPLY
Applications will be available online in February, 2012.  There are two steps and submission requirements, as follows:

Step 1: Apply online when applications are available in February.

  • Performer and/or group information;
  • 150-word bio describing your musical style, influences and inspirations.

Step 2: Follow up by mail

  • A print-out of the online application confirmation;
  • Send a sample of your work;  a three-song recording (CD preferred) with at least one original song (does not have to be professionally recorded)
  • Include payment: Visa, MasterCard or post-dated cheque accepted; the fee is processed upon acceptance into the program;
  • Include a letter of consent (if you are under the age of 18); available for download in February;
  • Include a completed scholarship application (if applicable).
