The Winnipeg Folk Festival and Winnipeg City Libraries are teaming up to bring you a monthly acoustic series from January to April 2025. Featuring talented alumni from the Festival’s Young Performers Program, this series brings the same vibrant energy and creativity seen at our summer Festival workshops, with artists sharing songs, and stories in an intimate setting.
Cassidy Mann
Cassidy Mann is a singer-songwriter who transforms small moments into poetic songs that feel personal and relatable. Her debut EP, If It’s Not Forever, explores the emotions tied to early relationships, offering comfort through honest storytelling. With roots in Sagkeeng First Nation, her Indigenous heritage inspires her work, reflecting traditions of preserving culture through song.
Nic Dyson
Nic is an acoustic singer-songwriter from small town Manitoba, Canada. He self-recorded/released with his Dad, an EP and 2 full lengths, “Dreaming Under a Broken Tree” in 2012 followed by “this one’s for you” in 2014, and “Where We’re From” in 2017. Most recently, “Figments” produced, mixed and mastered by Jordan Voth. He was Young Performer at the Winnipeg Folk Festival from 2015 to 2018. His song “Vertigo” was included in the 2017 CBC Searchlight Competition, receiving the most votes in the Top Ten in Manitoba.
Slow Leaves
Grant Davidson, known professionally as Slow Leaves, is a Canadian singer, songwriter, and musician. Davidson began playing guitar at age 15, inspired after discovering a Led Zeppelin II cassette tape in his older brother’s room. It was a finger-picked guitar however that would eventually form the heart of his songs.
