Thank you, Lynne Skromeda
A huge thank you to our fearless leader, Lynne Skromeda who will be stepping down as executive director of the Winnipeg Folk Festival at the end of July.
Lynne joined the team in 2012 and in her tenure the festival has seen much success hitting record attendance numbers, sell-outs across the board, finding additional funders and grant opportunities and strongly leading 18 full-time staff through a two-year pandemic hiatus. Lynne ensured that everyone kept their jobs and that the organization survived to see an incredible return in 2022.
“The past 11 years have been full of so much joy, discovery, growth and adventure as I’ve worked with and learned from the amazing team that puts on this fabulous event and all the activities around it,” says Lynne, “the dedicated and hardworking staff, volunteers, including an incredible volunteer board, and greater community of wonderful people that are the funders, sponsors, vendors, suppliers and donors who, along with our large and loyal audience, make it such a magical experience. I will miss the organization and all the people very much but they will always be in my heart and the festival will remain a very special part of my life.”
Lynne began her career in the film industry having spent over 12 years in the film industry, largely at Frantic Films before stepping in as Winnipeg Folk Festival’s executive director. She will now return to her film roots as the CEO of Manitoba Film and Music. We will miss Lynne’s presence, but wish her all the best on her new adventure.
